The Pains Wessex Rottnest Escorted Safety Convoy (RESC) is a fantastic opportunity for new boat owners and their families to enjoy a weekend that is educational and fun!
For over 20 years, Rottnest Escorted Safety Convoys have provided boaties with an interactive experience unique to Western Australia — an organised overnight trip to beautiful Rottnest Island in which you can enjoy tours of the bays, learn safe approaches, benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced escorts, learn how to correctly use safety equipment, knot tying and splicing.

Due to refurbishments currently taking place at the Quokka arms, a formal Dinner/Quiz night will not be taking place at this convoy.
As Rottnest Island is a very popular destination, participants are advised to book their accommodation requirements early.
Note: In the event of the convoy being cancelled due to inclement weather the BIAWA take no responsibility for loss of monies on accommodation and mooring bookings.
On board your boat – many participants choose to sleep on board their
boats and safe back anchoring on the beach is one of the educational
activities demonstrated to participants as part of the convoy. This is
appropriate for smaller boats (less than 7.6m in length)
Mooring & Pen Rentals – Boats that are 7.6m in length or longer will

On Rottnest Island – Overnight accommodation on Rottnest Island is
the participant’s responsibility to arrange. To make a booking call:
A Briefing Meeting will be held at the Burswood Watersports Centre at 6pm on Tuesday 21st of October 2008. The Burswood Watersports Centre is at 1 Camfield Drive, Burswood.
It is compulsory for at least one adult representative from each boat to attend the Briefing Meeting. Important information will be distributed at the meeting and to gain the full benefit of the Convoy you will want to make sure you attend.
An admission fee is payable to the Rottnest Island Authority, and can be paid at the Briefing Meeting or at the Visitors Centre on arrival. (This is a standard fee, which is applicable to anyone arriving on Rottnest or mooring/anchoring in Rottnest Island waters. As a private boat owner, you may purchase an annual vessel admission fees sticker. This costs $135 for vessels less than 8m and $154.80 for vessels 8m to 10m and is valid from 1 Sep 2008 to 31 Aug 2009.
Application forms are available from the Rottnest Website and must be lodged prior to departure. Alternatively, you may pay admission fees for a single visit at the normal rate of $12.90 per adult and $1.00 per child (aged 4-11) on arrival at the Rottnest Visitors Centre.
